Obedience Classes
Misfit K9 Training Center

Next classes to begin in May 2010.

Time to get started.  Weather will be starting to warm up.  Because of health concerns, I will only be doing private lessons to start the season in April.  Lessons can include any of the following: how to start showing obedience; Rally, reading signs and starting the different moves;  someone that wants to pass a Canine Good Citizen test;  aggression problems; or just plain "House Manners".

Train your dog with kindness and understanding.  We use positive reinforcement techniques to encourage the dog to do as we ask.  Private lessons available in the evenings or weekends by appointment only.

Our main emphasis is on the pet dog.  Our goal is to help build the proper household manners that enables a pet dog to stay in its home forever.  We work with the most common problems that people have with their pets.    Lots of one-on-one help is offered for special problems.

Puppy Classes:

Puppy Pre-School:  Any puppy, age 10 weeks to 4 months of age.  This class starts socialization and introduces the puppy and owner to training.  We discuss many of the important items you need to know to raise a well adjusted dog.  We introduce some of the basic commands to help with chaneling your puppys enthusiasm down the right path.  Help with housebreaking, chewing, barking, jumping on people, grooming, are just a few of the common puppy problems that are addressed.  All puppies must have their first two shots.

Starts:  ????, 6:00 p.m..  Class runs for 6 weeks, one night a week, and costs $60.00.

Depending on how many entries in the class, this class may be combined with the Puppy Kindergarden Class.

Puppy Kindergarden:  Any puppy between 4 & 6 months of age.  This class starts socialization and introduces the puppy and owner to more standard training.  Will start obedience training of sits, down, recall,  and leave-it.  Help with housebreaking, chewing, barking, jumping on people, grooming, are just a few of the common puppy problems that are addressed.  All puppies must have their full set of shots.

Starts:  ????,  7:15 p.m..  Class runs for 6 weeks, one night a week, and costs $60.00.

Beginning Obedience:

Any dog 5 months old and older (a dog is never too old to learn).  We teach the basic commands of sit, down, stay, walking with you and come.  Also, a little more work on heel, stands, walking in crowds, etc. Mainly a pet dog class, to teach the dog how to be a Canine Good Citizen.  We help with obstacles, jumping, chewing, and many other situations that most people run into with their pet dogs.

Start:  ????, 6:30 p.m.  Class runs for 6 weeks, one night a week, and costs $60.00.

Rally-O Obedience Class

For those that would like to compete in the newest, fun event at AKC shows. This class will help you understand the principles.  Rally is half way between formal obedience and agility.  You are required to motivate your dog with praise and direction during the course.  You must traverse the course on your own as a team.  It makes it fun for the dog to be in a ring which is a major plus for competition in regular obedience.

Requirement:  Dogs must have had basic obedience to qualify for this class.

Starts:  ?????? None scheduled at this time.  Class runs for 8 weeks, one night a week and costs $60.00.

Canine Good Citizen Class:

An AKC program, we have a test at the end of the class and award CGC certificates to those that qualify.  During the 7 weeks prior to the last week, we will practice the exercises that will be given on the test.  Greeting a stranger quietly, walking on a loose leash, sit, down, stay, come, and reaction to distractions.

Dogs must have some basic obedience prior to this to qualify for this class.  All dogs must be up to date on vaccinations.  Dogs do not have to be purebreds to participate.

If you are interested in a Therapy Dog certification also, we can also do that in conjunction with this class.

Start:  ?? None scheduled at this time.  Class runs for 8 weeks, one night a week, and cost $60.00.  Price includes the testing fee.
